"... a startlingly original piece -- a setting of the ancient Latin text, "Hodie" by a young composer, Michael Gilbertson -- was a jaw dropper featuring the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus, skillfully led by its director, Pearl Shangkuan. The young composer from Iowa is 21 years old now, but he appears to have absorbed that many musical styles and more when he wrote this piece at age 15." - Jeffrey Kaczmarczyk | The Grand Rapids Press |
